About Me

Meet Max ,

Max is a very sweet and affectionate boy with lots of love to give . He came in after his retirement from hound trailing (You can find out more about the breed here Lakeland Trailhound Welfare » Frequently Asked Questions). Max is a gentle soul looking for a home where he can start to live a normal pet life came in to wars as he has retired from his racing years. He is now ready to start having the laid back companion life he craves.

Max did get adopted and has been living in a home for the past few months learning the basics but has recently been returned due to his struggles with separation. Although max is perfect in every other way he really struggles to be left even for short period of times. Being a hound he will certainly tell you about it. We think he would best suit a home someone who is able to work from home or someone who is retired to work on building up his alone time over many many months. We understand that everyone does have to go out at some point to the supermarket to the cinema, for a meal ect. Therefore it would be fantastic if his rehomers had a great relationship with their neighbours or close by family members where he can be dropped off to be spoilt when his owners need to disappear for a bit. Or even better, he is great in the car so you can take him wherever you go. He needs a patient understanding home to continue his basic training.
Max loves other dogs He would be just as happy living with one as he would be just meet up in the local park for a run around.

Hounds are not known for their recall. They use their nose more than their ears. However Max has the potential to be an off lead dog but this will still need lots of work to make sure he is safe. The majority of the time max walks really well, however he will need an owner who is capable of holding him if he were to pick up a really nice scent that he wants to follow and use his full strength.

Max has a history of interacting with cats and either seems to enjoy their presence or doesn’t mind them at all. With proper introductions he could live with a cat or a dog.

Max is a really a gentle soul but he struggles to understand he is actually quite a big dog. It would be worth him going in to an adult only home
