Zac has come into WARS after being retired from racing. He was a successful racer and is well versed and clearing high fences on a run. He loves his walks and enjoyed making friends here at the shelter of the two legged and 4 legged variety. Like most Trailhounds he doesn’t really know many basic commands, but his love of food does help with the training, which he has already started here at the shelter.
Being a retired racer, Zac would need a very secure garden, as a 4ft fence is no challenge for him. He could live with another suitable dog and children 12+. He would be best suited to a home where the family are around for most of the day.
Trailhounds are very adaptable dogs who make very good family pets. They have fantastic temperaments and tend to be great around children, other dogs and other animals. They need plenty of exercise but in once in the home love nothing more than curling up in front of the fire. They do however, love a smell.. so their noses are likely to be found centimetres off the ground, so recall often needs some work. They are relatively quick learners who are highly motivated by food.
