Kiara has had a hunting working background, as she wasn’t very good at this so she was given in to WARS. She Doesn’t know much of how to be a normal pet dog at this moment in time, but is learning quickly. She is a very intelligent and cuddly girl.
Kiara loves other dogs and could live with another suitable canine friend. However, she is very energetic and if you do already have another dog they must be okay with a young puppy that plats rough and would charge in to them at speed.
Kiara is going to be a big project for someone she isnt going to be easy but she will be worth it.
Some negatives about Kiara is that she is all paws, this leads to a lot of jumping up, headbutting, scratching with her claws, with no malice but no understanding what is appropriate. As she is 20 kilograms and nothing but muscle, this can hurt and do some damage. Therefore we are looking for a very specific home that would be suitable for this adorable misguided soul.
Kiara need a home with a household who are looking for a project dog. They will need patience and determination to work through what will be months of shaping her in to the perfect pet.
Kiara could live in a house with another suitable dog but not any cats or small furries. Kiara will need to be in an adult only household as she is very bouncy, resulting in powerful headbutts and scratching.
She walks relatively well on the lead however, Kiaras owners must be physically strong enough to hold on to Kiara if she were to use her strong legs to pull on the lead.
Lurchers are crossbreeds so their temperaments and behaviours can be influenced by other breed traits. She, like many Lurcher types may have a strong prey drive so it’s important that this is channeled in the right way. This can be through playing chasing games with toys and having fluffy toys that replicate what they would usually chase. Instead of trying to stop them chasing wildlife, you should facilitate that need but through a desired way, using toys.
Using toys like this can help with this https://www.amazon.co.uk/ANG-Braided-Outdoor-Interective-Training/dp/B0171F11BS?ref_=fsclp_pl_dp_1
Lurchers can be mischievous and sneaky, but this just adds to their fun and quirky personality.
