Hank came to us from a home environment as he was too much for children in the house. Hank is a lovely dog with lots of personality and affection to give. He is a big lump of a staffy weighing 26 killograms. He loves long walks and sunsets on the beach, a warm home with lots of time to give.
Hank is a bit of an anxious boy who doesn’t cope when stressed, frustrated or overly excited. These emotional states result in hank grabbing the lead and ragging it. Staff have been doing lots of training hank to guide him in to performing better behaviours when in these emotional states. This will be passed on to any potential rehomer of hank. However, Hank will be alot of work. In the household hank has a history of being really easy to manage, however, when out on a walk if he goes past his low threshold of comfort then he will lead rag in an obsessive fashion. This isn’t going to disappear overnight and will require dedication, patience and training experience to prevent, and manage the situation.
Being a blue boy he will be very popular. With this in mind please consider if your environment and experience would suit what hank needs in a new home.
It is essential that hank gets rehomed in to rural area as he wont cope with an urban environment.
Breed experience isn’t necessary however experience with larger dogs would be preferable.
An owner who is physically capable of walking an extremely powerful dog. This will get better over time and correct training methods that we will offer.
An adult only home with no visiting children as hank is too much for them.
A calm household who have some training experience managing a difficult undesirable behaviours using positive reinforcement methods.
Hank would struggle being left and would benefit from a household where someone is always home. However, this can be worked on and improved over time.
Staffies can be quite noisy dogs, they whine, pine and bark for attention. The new owner must have a suitable home environment where this is okay. Therefore he wouldn’t suit a flat or home in close proximity to others. Hank needs a home with someone who has patience to know that Hank isnt going to be perfect overnight. Not a week. not a month. It is going to hard work and perseverance to get him to become the dog he can be. He will be 100% worth it.
Staffies are often very tactile and enjoy lots of physical cuddles.
